Saints, Souls, and Sunsets illuminates a threefold, parallel life path for the author.

One path lead Kanyer and her husband on a journey as they trekked to medical appointments and tests. Eventually, an official diagnosis was issued for her — “Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia”. No known cure, it would simply have to be endured.

A second path was the life track of making art. This path involved working daily for months on collages, as the “prompts” were issued in a set daily time each month.  

The third path was the necessary work of facilitating and administering the international facilitators course related to her brainchild, Collage Care: The Method. Kanyer wrote a total of 1,066 pages for the course training. Across the globe there were 35 professionals who took part in the course, from 12 countries, on four continents. Joining this group were professionals associated with Georgetown University’s Lombardi Arts and Humanities program.

Kanyer, not unlike noted artists before her such as Henri Matisse and Frida Kahlo, forged ahead to make artwork and be productive despite trying circumstances. Saints, Souls, and Sunsets demonstrates the drive of an artist to create and make a contribution to the world in the face of adversity.
